Gradual Improvement of the Healthy Lighting Standard System: Explosive Demand for Lighting in Segmented Scenarios

In 2025, healthy lighting has become one of the most concerned tracks in the industry. With the official release and implementation of the group standard "Technical Specifications for Healthy Lighting - Maternity and Infant Rooms" and the inclusion of desk lamps for reading and writing in the mandatory control catalog of hazardous substances, the standard system for healthy lighting is accelerating its improvement, promoting the industry's transformation from "lighting up" to "lighting well". The core logic of healthy lighting is based on the principle of photobiological safety, which reduces the negative impact of lighting on human biological rhythms and visual health by optimizing parameters such as spectrum, color temperature, and stroboscopic effect, while meeting the functional needs of different scenarios.
The development of healthy lighting currently presents an obvious trend of segmented scenarios. In the scenario of maternity and infant rooms, the new standard clearly requires that lighting products must have the characteristics of low blue light, high color rendering index (Ra ≥ 90), and no stroboscopic effect, with the color temperature controlled between 3000K and 4000K to avoid strong light stimulating the retina of infants and young children. In the scenario of reading and writing, in addition to the control of hazardous substances, lighting products must pass the photobiological safety certification, with the blue light hazard level reaching RG0 (no blue light hazard) and the illuminance uniformity ≥ 0.7, ensuring that long-term reading and writing do not easily cause fatigue. In the medical scenario, operating room lighting must achieve high brightness (illuminance ≥ 10000lx), high color rendering (R9 ≥ 50), and at the same time have anti-glare design to provide a clear visual environment for surgical operations. In the elderly care scenario, lighting products must take into account the characteristics of visual deterioration in the elderly, improve vertical illuminance and color rendering index, and reduce the impact of shadows on movement.
Technological innovation is the core driving force for the development of healthy lighting. The continuous upgrading of LED technology makes spectrum optimization possible. Full-spectrum LED products can simulate natural light, effectively improving color reproduction and visual comfort. Intelligent dimming technology can realize dynamic adjustment of color temperature and illuminance, adapting to the needs of different time periods and usage scenarios. On the market side, the penetration rate of healthy lighting products is rapidly increasing. In 2025, healthy products accounted for more than 40% in the commercial lighting field, and the growth rate in the home lighting field exceeded 50%. Consumers' attention to health is constantly increasing, and they are willing to pay a premium for lighting products with health certification, driving enterprises to increase R&D investment. Industry experts said that the future competition in healthy lighting will focus on technological R&D and standard certification. With the introduction of more standards for segmented scenarios, healthy lighting will become a core support for the high-quality development of the lighting industry.
